Better Call Saul - 10/10

Hands down my favorite television show of all time.
It tells the story of Jimmy McGill, an aspiring lawyer constantly tripping over the consequences of his own actions, and all of the complex situations created by his ethical decline. Jimmy eventually transforms into Saul Goodman, the sleazy lawyer originally introduced in Breaking Bad.

These gifs succinctly describe his personality:

Also, he famously does this anime girl pose in court... this is necessary to include, for the lore.

Every character in this show is so well written. Jimmy's older, more successful brother, Chuck, likes to dress as a baked potato sometimes because he's scared of electricity.

Jimmy's colleague and romantic interest, Kim, may seem like she always stands on business, but she lets her alter ego Giselle out to play just enough to get into her fair share of trouble as well. Some of you freaks may also like how often Kim is barefoot in the show, but I refuse to link the reddit post with timestamps to those instances.

And there's Howard, who tragically can't catch a break - but he can catch a bullet! Pour one out for Howie :(

Over the Garden Wall - 10/10

A cute animated series with Elijah Wood starring as Wirt, a teenager lost in a mysterious forest with his goofy younger half-brother, Greg. The brothers experience a series of fantastical events - some fun and comical and others downright scary. The writing and animation in this short series are perfect. Watching this is an annual fall season tradition for me (even better if you carve pumpkins while you watch - see my fiancé's & my Over the Garden Wall pumpkins below).

Fight Club - 10/10

It took me way too long to get around to actually watching this movie solely due to the "you do not talk about Fight Club" meme. I honestly thought it was just going to be some dumb flick about dudes beating the shit out of each other, but it actually explores complex themes of nihilism, consumerist culture, and unhealthy coping mechanisms. Oh, and you get to watch dudes beat the shit out of each other, so it truly does have it all.

Peep Show - 9.5/10

Some will say this is a show about two dysfunctional roommates who hate each other's guts and would probably be better off on their own. Others argue it's about two very troubled, codependent men who rely on one another and should probably just kiss and get it over with since they will never find happiness in anything except for the deranged relationship they've cultivated for themselves. I think both sides make a decent case. I love the unhinged writing and dialogue in this show. The Brits really know how to party (thank you Beastie Boys for fighting - and possibly dying - for that right).

Shrek - 10/10

I think we all know this masterpiece, so I will simply leave you with some of my favorite Shrek images from the web:

Trailer Park Boys - 7/10

Mr Show - 8/10

One of THE shows of all time.

Futurama - 8.5/10

Seinfeld - 8/10

George Costanza is like a religious figure to me. This sad little man just gets it in ways no one else does. Elaine, Kramer, and Newman are also funny. I don't really care for that other guy, though.

Bubble Boy - 8/10

I went years believing that I had seen this movie as a preteen and dismissed it as not worth rewatching. Not only was I so wrong, but I was also a fake Gyllenhaal fan.

Juno 9/10

The nostalgia and overall weirdness that permeates almost every scene really make this movie for me.

Donnie Darko - 8.5/10

Donnie Darko was my favorite movie as a teenager.

Devil's Pass - 7.5/10

Don't let the atrocious acting keep you from experiencing the great story hidden in this movie. I really think if this was remade with better actors it could be successful.

The Phoenix Tapes '97 - 7.5/10

I usually dislike found footage type films, but the actors in this one are almost too believable. I watched this with my dad and we were both convinced it was a documentary until the very end. Honestly, the stellar acting is what warrants such a realtively high rating for an otherwise mid-tier movie. I just wanna join those bros on their roadtrip.

Dinner in America - 8.5/10

This one is so fun. I love the shitty punk band and quirky outfits.

Dirty Girl - 8/10

They really don't make movies like this anymore. The promiscuous teen protagonist is assigned to look after a flour "baby" with a gay social outcast. They end up on a roadtrip together to meet her real father and have some nice bonding moments along the way.

Charlie Bartlett - 9/10

Hick - 8/10

This movie is so deeply unsettling.

Brokeback Mountain - 9.5/10

Boys Don't Cry - ???

I haven't seen this movie in over 10 years, so I'll update this once I get around to rewatching. I know it's based on real life events and extremely sad... so I'll mentally prepare for that.

The Virgin Suicides - 7/10

Tumblr introduced me to this movie, and I am only slightly ashamed of just how much I enjoy it.
